This is interesting and outside my normal field so I was not aware of it. Whilst it could be entirely possible it sounds initially to me that there are large claims. Cancer drugs require an awful lot of testing nowadays and it usually takes years for a drug to make it from concept to finished product. So many promising drugs are prevented from reaching human trials because there is just a little too much risk. I would suspect that if these drugs are at the mouse stage then it will be a lot longer to be fully tested on humans. Whilst it could be for reasons of industry confidentiality there is nothing published in the scientific literature at the moment. This is incredibly important because all science that is published has been peer reviewed by other specialist scientists and they look in detail about the credibility of the work and experiments that they do. It would be highly unusual and risky for them to release a drug a that has had not had this review. That said, you never know, but it does sound a little too good to be true.

Here’s an important thing to know about cancer – there are lots of different types. This is part of the reason it’s so hard to pin down a cure. On top of that, cancer changes and adapts so it can sometime work around a cure.

What does this mean? It means that we might indeed cure particular types of cancer, but we still have a lot of work to do if we want to eradicate it completely. We are making progress though, but progress usually takes time so take the announcements from the Israel team with a pinch of salt… stay positive though! We’ll get there eventually 😀
