There are already flying cars out there that you can buy, though you need a pilots license to fly them and they cost a lot of money. Will the become popular? Yes, I think they will in the future when the technology gets better for them. They are limited in range due to size, and there are no laws in how we would fly them, would there be air roads?

      It already exists: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHuoPJjuRwk
But they are really expensive (they cost millions!) and very inefficient!

I remember this question from the live chat!
      .
So we already have the technology to make planes fly, why don’t we make cars fly? The answer is that you need a long strip of road with no-one on it to safely lift off and land your flying car. People have created “flying cars” but they’re really annoying to use, you have to unpack the wings when you want to fly and then pack them back up again when you want to drive.
      .
What we REALLY NEED are cars that can hover, a bit like a Harrier Jet. To make something like that we would need very powerful engines, and lots of safety so animals and people don’t get sucked into the jets!!! Then we would need a compact energy source that we can fit into the car, and use to power our engines! This is definitely something we CAN do in the next 100 years so the answer to your question is… YES! 😀
