The short answer is yes. We tend to choose the easy and not necessarily the correct way of doing things (recycling, being environmental sustainable). The good news is that we are understanding that we are doing things wrong and we are trying to improve and correct our behaviour.

Definitely, I’m an environmental activist, which means that I organise talks and lectures and all kinds of other things to spread the message that we are destroying the ecosystems around the world through climate change, over fishing, over farming, and pollution.

We need to change the way that we function as a society and work WITH nature, and try to protect all the animals and plants that make the world such a wonderful place. We can improve the world, and we can repair our damage but we need to make governments and companies listen to us!

Unfortunately I believe we are, but there is a lot of hope out there in the younger generation. You guys are starting to argue with the politicians about global warming which is ace. We need more people to take a step forward in saying no to plastics, no to burning fossil fuels and yes to renewables and recycling. We are at a very important time now, we are coming to or at the point of no return, as in if we don’t do something quickly, as in the next 2 or 3 decades, then we may damage the world beyond repair

I would definitely say we are. Unfortunately it’s every person for themselves which means we lose sight of the bigger picture which is that we are ruining the earth we live on. There are so many things we should and can be doing to help things but most of us choose to take the easy or cheapest path. I think the answer will come in strict legislation but that will not be popular and requires a lot of lobbying to make people stand up and think about what they are doing. It takes all of us to stand up and say no “we don’t want plastic packaging” – but I bet you’ll still go to the shop and buy things in plastic? I admit I do. What do you think it will take to change everyone’s mind?

I’m an optimist but in this case I have to say: Sadly, yes! For ourselves and everyone else too.. 😔
