I work alone, although I sometimes collaborate with other people working on quantum biology here at the University of Surrey.

It’s nice to focus on your own stuff, but when you get stuck you have noone to ask for help! And that sucks 🙁

I work mostly alone as my project is quite different from what other researchers work on in Edinburgh. I am able to ask for help in particular things to my PhD fellows or supervisor and friends ^^

I mostly work alone, but there are a group of people in the same research group who I can turn to for help if need be. We all work on different projects, but in the same over arching field of star formation. For example, another PhD student in my group is looking at how magnetic fields affect star formation, whereas I am looking at how a dwarf galaxy that has very different chemistry, mass and dark matter affects star formation. So we all work alone, but help each other.

I share a big office with ~10 other scientists and students! Mostly, I do all my own work but I have some close collaborators. So, I get my results or make a plan and then we regularly catch up to see how things are going, talk about what the results mean, and how we are going to move forward!
My work involves working alone, but sometimes also quite intensely working with other people.
